Dementia is just a descriptive term for the syndrome but does not specify what type of dementia.
Dementia requires an accurate diagnosis to establish appropriate treatment, management plans and prognosis.
There are several different types of dementia syndromes which may require different treatment and management plans.
Other types of dementia include vascular dementia, frontal lobe dementia or frontotemporal dementia, Lewy Body dementia, alcohol related dementia, chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
