Malnutrition symptoms.
Symptoms of malnutrition in older adults include-
weight loss
dry mouth
muscle weakness
difficulty getting out of a chair or bed
needing to use upper limbs to help get them out of a chair due to weak thigh muscles
confusion/delirium
deteriorating mobility
falls
adverse drug reactions- the malnourished older person’s body cannot handle drugs well because they have low serum albumin (circulating protein) which helps to bind drugs to prevent drug toxicity and drug to drug interactions.
