Delirium is an acute sudden onset confusion vs dementia which is slow in onset and progresses over years.
Delirium causes sudden confusion and disorientation in elderly vs dementia causes slow onset of short term memory loss.
Delirium affects level of consciousness, alertness, attention vs dementia which does not cause these symptoms.
Delirium usually occurs in sick older people and is life threatening vs dementia which progresses very slowly and id not life threatening.
